As a house sitter you will also be a caretaker, a caretaker looks after building maintenance to ensure nothing goes wrong with things like plumbing, electrics, roof leaks and so on and would make arrangements to have them fixed, or if they were serious enough inform their employer to see what course of action to take.

Caretaking also involves security in terms of being a presence on site at all times. In situations where a breach of security is more than likely at some stage professional security firms would be employed though. The caretaker acts as more of a deterrent through their presence.

In all of these respects house sitting and caretaking are exactly the same, but if you’re considering becoming a caretaker or you’re already in caretaking don’t ignore the many benefits that house sitting can give you.

House sitting is really caretaking with free accommodation, but where the owner covers all living costs except food and drink and there are a never ending stream of house sitting jobs available if you know where to look for them.

Changing your thinking from commercial caretakers jobs to live-in caretakers jobs really means you are considering house sitting and there will be no difference in the work you will do to that involved in running your own home.

You’ll get a free roof over your head and everything you would normally pay for will be paid for by the home owner, sometimes even your food allowing you to brin...
Read the rest of this entry »
This resource is only available to members.

There are all kinds of reasons why you may need to save money:

You want to put your kids through school.
You want to buy your first
home.
You’re out of work and can’t find a job.
You have a lot of debt of
one form or another.
You’re struggling to make the payments on your
house.
You’re struggling to make the payments on your apartment.
You’re struggling to make the payments on your car.
You’re struggling to make the payments on your boat.
You’re insolvent.
You’re bankrupt.

I’m always amazed at people’s reactions when they first realise that house sitting is not a bad way of life and secondly that it can save them a great deal of money and get them out of their financial problems.

and the US Cavalry must have felt.

If you have your own home and you take up house sitting you could rent it out and use that income to either pay off your debts or for whatever you want to.

Dismissing house sitting as something frivolous or short term or thinking of it as being hard work is wrong because once you get ...
Read the rest of this entry »
This resource is only available to members.

How to Slash Your Living Costs:

How would you like not to have to pay any utility charges, pay no rent or mortgage/bond and no telephone or television charges?
House sitting is the cheapest possible way for you to live, by getting rid of most or even all of your daily living costs in
exchange for what is after all a pretty easy job!
Living Almost for Free:

The only things you will pay for are your food (sometimes even this is supplied by the home owner) and your travel costs. You usually have access to washing machines, spin dryers, dish washing machines, fridges, deep freezes, wide screen televisions with satellite channels, sometimes swimming pools, saunas and so on.

Saving Yourself Money:

If you’re careful with what you spend you can save a vast amount of money, especially when you get yourself six month or twelve month house sitting positions so that you’re in a stable, reduced cost situation for a long period.
Whether you’re saving for a deposit on a house, to put your kids through college or to buy something you regard as critical to your life house sitting is the best way to achieve your goals.

Reducing Your Debt:

Now that you’re saving money you can begin to pay off all of your debts. If you turn to house sitting as a new way of life for either a medium or long term period you should find you are able to completely clear your...
Read the rest of this entry »
This resource is only available to members.
